On October 13, 2023, the Japan Immigration Agency announced that the number of foreign residents in Japan had increased from the previous year, reaching a record high.

Among the foreigners living in Japan, there may be some who manage their assets in their home country.

If you are a resident of Japan, you should be aware that the tax laws apply to you in the same way as to Japanese citizens, so you are required to declare any income earned in your home country.

The Japanese National Tax Agency focuses its efforts on finding taxpayers who have not declared income from assets outside of Japan. This applies not only to Japanese citizens, but also to foreigners.

Please follow the rules for proper filing and payment of taxes to avoid being audited by the Japanese National Tax Agency.
